My students are enthusiastic beginning readers who are sounding out every sign, label and title they come across. Can you remember that drive to understand the message in front of you?
My students come to school and enter a world of learning.
I try to expose them to many wonderful learning experiences. This year I have a large group of children with emerging reading skills. I want to open their minds to the beauty of literacy. Our school serves a variety of neighborhood children and children from other areas of our city. My Kindergarten class is especially in need of beginning reading books to successfully develop a love of reading. These books are a blend of fiction and non-fiction to engage all the readers. Most traditional Kindergarten classrooms are filled with fairy tales, while the children really want to read everything from snakes and rockets to a story about a cat with new red shoes!
My Project
My students need eight sets of beginning leveled book sets, with bins, Levels A to D, to help develop reading skills. My students will be able to experience their first books and be able to read themselves. These are beginning books designed with simple texts, with a variety of topics to expand their imagination and learn about the world around them. Imagine the thrill of my students as they grow towards their own reading independence.
Be part of the success of the next generation!
Can you read? Hasn't that made a significant difference in your life? Be part of the solution and support today's learners and tomorrow's leaders! With these fiction and non-fiction books my students will be on their way to answering questions for themselves about the world we live in!
