This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kinder kids are awesome! They are inquisitive, eager, silly, and kind. I love to see my kids faces when I truly see them engaged and excited about learning something new. I work in a Title I school with limited funding. Many of my students live in poverty and barely get the opportunity to leave their neighborhood. And now due to the coronavirus many students will begin kindergarten with large learning gaps. I want to ensure I make their learning fun and engaging. With your contributions, you will help to provide engaging, hands-on learning and practice through math centers to boast math achievement.

My Project

These materials will make a huge difference to my students' learning this coming year. The coronavirus has caused many gaps in learning achievement due to the hybrid approach to teaching during the 2020-2021 school year. I taught simultaneously in-person and virtual via Microsoft Teams all subjects. This made it difficult to provide the best learning environment for students to meet their math goals since we were no longer allowed to let students use our math centers unless each student had their own set.

With these math learning centers, students will be engaged and excited about practicing skills taught in class.

I plan to use these materials during math workstations and will add a new center after we have already covered that skill/objective in our whole group lessons to provide added practice until students have mastered them all. These math learning centers will reinforce number identification, number writing, counting, addition and subtraction, and 2D shapes.
