The Regulation Station

Help me give my students the gift of positive reinforcement with books, sensory tools, snacks, and an iPad for nonverbal communication to support students' social-emotional growth and regulation during moments of escalation.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our inclusive classroom, social-emotional learning (SEL) is a daily priority. I’ve selected powerful children’s books like I Am Enough, Gratitude Is My Superpower, and No, David! to help students understand strong emotions and make positive choices. These relatable stories support critical SEL skills like self-awareness, empathy, and friendship.

To further promote emotional regulation, I’m requesting sensory tools, an IPad, healthy snacks and powerful children's books.

Sensory items such as weather-changing tubes and tactile blocks. These help students calm their bodies and focus their minds during moments of escalation. I’m also seeking an iPad to support a nonverbal student. The device will allow her to communicate more effectively when overwhelmed and engage in hand-eye coordination activities not feasible on a Chromebook.

I’ve included healthy snacks as well. Hunger often triggers frustration and dysregulation, and a nutritious snack can quickly restore calm and focus, giving students the fuel they need to learn and self-regulate.

Our school serves a unique and resilient population: 100% of our students receive free lunch, and 30% have IEPs. They come from diverse backgrounds and are learning to manage big feelings while navigating complex personal experiences. Many need additional tools and support to thrive.

My classroom goals include:

Helping students identify and regulate emotions

Promoting inclusive communication for all learners

Creating a calm, supportive, and responsive environment

These resources will directly impact my students’ ability to engage, connect, and succeed. They are incredibly special—full of potential, empathy, and determination. With the right supports, they can grow into emotionally intelligent, kind, and capable individuals.
