Help me give my students a set of novels that serve as models of author's craft, as well as publishing materials that our student authors need replenishing in our Writers' Workshop area.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am incredibly blessed to be the teacher of 35 creative, compassionate, curious, eager learners! They are a phenomenal group of students who are excellent in every way! Many in our classroom families must hurdle the challenges of attention deficit, self-confidence, English acquisition, dysgraphia, specific learning disabilities, anxiety, and Autism.
Despite challenges, my 5th-grade students look forward to a new school year bringing with them tremendous creativity, potential, willingness to take risks, and an enthusiasm that is contagious!
My Project
My students regularly engage in inquiry, problem-solving, and collaboration. Each week, though, the activity they look forward to the most is Writers' Workshop. Students are eager to learn new writing techniques through mini lessons, and then apply them in their own writing. Imagine providing them with a set of novels that not only serve as a wonderful reading experience, but a perfect opportunity to analyze the techniques and author's craft that their favorite authors employ in their writing. In addition, it would be wonderful to be able to replenish some of the publishing materials they enjoy using for their own written pieces (binding combs, fasteners, stickers, etc.).
