My students need a class set of the Hunger Games. The books will be read in class next year and will be used in comparing/contrasting of another book with a similar theme.
We are a classroom that loves to read! The books in our classroom fly off the shelves and reading is top priority.
We are a small K-8 school with around 215 students.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds. Each student is unique and special in their own way.
The 7th and 8th classes enjoy reading and working together in class. The classes aim to meet their AR goals. These are goals set up based on a test that students take. Students read their books and take quizzes. Once they pass their quizzes, they are rewarded with some small activity.
My Project
By getting The Hunger Games, my students will be able to have a classroom set for our novel study. Being a small school, it makes it hard to have room in the budget for large amounts of books for a classroom. The largest class size in 7th and 8th is thirty students. By having the books purchased for them, the students will not be responsible for getting their own books.
The books will also help us dive into novel unit studies. We have not been able to do that before, due to not having the books. Students will get a chance to take a book to deeper level and share in discussions with peers in class and enhance learning across the ELA curriculum.
The donations will help us have the class set in order for the unit study and group discussions.
By having the donations, students will not be required to purchase the book on their on. (Some students cannot afford to do that).
