it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
It's a new year and my students are ready for a new way. My students are excited to explore the worlds of science and social studies. However, my students need more than outdated textbooks to really discover the wonders of science and social studies.
I teach a group of enthusiastic high-achieving first grade students.
My students live in the inner city, in a socio-economically disadvantaged community. They face many challenges outside of school, yet they come to school eager and ready to learn each and every day. My first graders excel in language arts, reading well above grade level. They learn and retain new information and concepts quickly. They are students who need to be constantly challenged.
My Project
Having a multimedia projector and an Apple TV would make learning about science and social studies much more enjoyable and meaningful to the students. My students would gain a deeper level of understanding with these tools. Rather than reading about the plant life cycle or the different animal groups from the textbooks, I would be able to present PowerPoint presentations. Or better yet, my students would be able to conduct research and present their own PowerPoint presentations. Also when learning about the seven continents, I would be able to take my students on a virtual field trip to the seven continents. The possibilities are endless. Having a projector in the classroom would make a world of difference in their learning.
I see great potential in my first grade students.
With the many obstacles that my students and their families face, they have still managed to excel and go above and beyond in academics. Please help me provide the best learning experience for my students.
