My students need to use colored pens so that they can edit and revise their writing pieces, a sharpener to sharpen pencils, and white board markers for math and phonics.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are rockin' third graders! School may start at 8:02 AM, but my students love to get in early. With a set daily schedule, students know how their day will look like and look forward to the hands-on activities they have lined up for the day. It's more fun to create then complete tasks!
My students are top-notch learners!
They don't let their short comings let them down. They know that learning is the key to success. They set their goals and aim to surpass them. That's who they are! Our school helps support their goals and aspirations. Students get recognized for their efforts through assemblies, teachers, and classmates. It's a team effort. One classmate's success is everyone's success!
My Project
My students do writing in the classroom. To make it better for my students to understand the steps to the writing process, I layer the process. So, we start jotting down our ideas and drafting with a pencil (hence the need for the pencil sharpener). After a targeted lesson on grammar, the students use a blue pen to revise their work. Editing with a green pen follows, making sure those capital letters are where they should be and placing those end punctuation marks. Next, they work with a partner to get input on ideas, revisions, or remarks (red pen). Finally, they rewrite their work in black pens. The folders will hold their papers in place, keeping them focused and organized. Sometimes, the students need glue sticks to add their artwork into their writing. For that, I need to have a class set of glue sticks available for them. The glue sticks can also be used in other class projects. The whiteboard markers will help the kinesthetic learners practice their phonics and math.
Your donations will help my students continue their daily learning uninterrupted.
It will help my students understand the writing process better and allow for them to practice their math and phonics skills on white boards.
