My Students
"Can I write?" This is music to my happy teacher ears. My goal each year is to create lifelong learners, that are invested in their education.
Too often, students despise writing.
They complain about not knowing what to write about. As a teacher, I make it my goal to teach my students how to write about what they are passionate about. In order for this to happen, I need specific tools to encourage my students. I have made sure that our classroom library is full of nonfiction text, thus providing interesting topics, yet I still don't have all the tools my students need. The technology that this project will provide will be used to publish individual writings.
My Project
The printer and ink will be used for students to create and publish their individual writing pieces. My students work on writing daily through writers' workshop. Having such a special tool for publishing will drive students to create a piece that they are passionate about.
The laminator and laminating sheets will be used for students to take their work and create a keepsake. My students live in high poverty and do not have books in their homes. The publications they create will allow them to build a personal library.
This project will allow my students to create works of writing that they are passionate about.
The publications that each student creates with these tools will teach them not only how to use technology to build a piece of writing, but it will provide ownership toward each student's work.
