This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love my students for their curiosity, resilience, and diverse perspectives. Many of them are English Language Learners or come from backgrounds where traditional texts can feel overwhelming. Despite these challenges, they are eager to learn, ask deep questions, and engage in meaningful discussions.

This collection of non-fiction graphic novels will provide them with an accessible and engaging way to build literacy skills while deepening their understanding of real-world topics.

The visual storytelling format will support my struggling readers by offering context clues and scaffolding that traditional textbooks often lack. Additionally, these graphic novels will help my students develop critical thinking skills as they analyze historical events, scientific discoveries, and influential figures in a format that is both informative and visually stimulating.

By bringing these resources into our classroom, I am ensuring that all of my students—regardless of their reading level—can access complex ideas, strengthen their comprehension skills, and, most importantly, develop a lifelong love of reading.
