My Project

Our classroom library is well-loved, but many of our copies of The Outsiders are falling apart after years of use. My 8th graders deserve sturdy, updated editions of this classic so they can fully experience the story without missing pages or torn covers. This book in particular is always a hit with my students who find a part of themselves in one or more of the charismatic characters and remains a topic of discussion throughout the entire year.

In addition, I want to expand our collection of informational texts about the Holocaust.

Currently students only have two options of books and I truly want to ensure that I am providing engaging texts to all my students. By adding more titles, I can provide students with more, meaningful choices during book clubs, allowing them to engage with powerful stories and historical accounts that build empathy, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the past.

These new books will not only replace worn-out copies but also enrich our library with diverse options that inspire curiosity and discussion.
