My Students
Do you remember when you were able to have center time? It would be great to have one more center. We need a listening center to listen to the books that we have on CDs. Sharing the computer as a listening center and computer software is not fun.
My students are always seeking a new adventures.
When we received some books with CDs and tried to play it on the computer it didn't work. They were so disappointed. These second grade students come from a low social economic background and don't have the luxury of CD players or computers at home. Giving them an opportunity to hear stories on a CD would enrich their learning.
My Project
Receiving a listening center and CD player will give the students an opportunity to listen to and not just read books in our classroom library. We received new books that had CDs and they won't play on the computer CD player. The students were very disappointed and so was I. Having an additional center in the room for the students to enrich their reading would be great.
Having a listening center in the classroom will enhance their reading experience by being able to hear modeled reading which will improve their reading skills and fluency and make them better readers.
