This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My middle school students are lively, fearless, and active learners! These students come to school each and every day ready to learn despite of their family living arrangements! They have daily struggles, but they try their hardest to overcome these struggles to become successful students.
My school is located in a neighborhood that faces many difficulties on a daily basis.
It is a poverty-stricken neighborhood at the LES.
My Middle School-level English learners are eager for knowledge and learning the new English language. Their enthusiasm motivates and drives me to work hard for them and the best of education I can provide. My students come to school looking forward to learn, to explore, and cultivate for their future.
My school is a Title I school and 98% of students receive free lunches daily. Even though these students are moving around a lot and being cared for by different foster care families, guardians and caretakers, they still make it to school each day. The school is most students’ safe haven where they can be themselves and enjoy learning.
My Project
Technology is needed in my classroom to support all levels of learners to meet the demand of today's learning standards. It is a very expensive necessity. Here are some reasons why technology is essential in the classroom:
As our nation becomes increasingly more technology-dependent, the school system has also becoming more demanding with the use of technology within the classroom.
It becomes even more necessary to be successful citizens, students must learn to be tech-savvy. Most of my students have no access to technology beyond the classroom.
As the Common Core changes for the students, teachers are expected to teach the students computer programming as part of their education, technology is greatly needed to help students meet this new requirement. Technology helps the teacher prepares students for the real world environment.
It gives students the chance to interact with their classmates more by encouraging collaboration and help build independence.
Integrating technology in my classroom will help students stay engaged, especially for second language learners with special need. Technology is another way to help them to communicate, to become self- efficient, and for the teachers to different instruction so students can actively engaged in every day lessons. I am requesting three Chromebooks so that the students can have a technology center in the classroom. These Chromebooks will allow the students to build independence reading practice at his/her own reading level. This is a great way for English Language Learners to learn through interactive listening, and follow along as it is being read to them to build fluency and comprehension. It is also a great way to develop language acquisition and auditory recognition, as well as learning the contents.
