My Project
My students are vivid and active and love to use my electric pencil sharpener.
My students have mentioned that they would like to buy me a brand new pencil sharpener since ours is always breaking.
Unfortunately, due to budget constraints I am not able to order one through the school. My kids are very thoughtful and I appreciate their ideas on how to put their money together to get supplies they need but I wouldn't dream of having them spend any of their own money on supplies that should be provided by the school. Our school is a Title 1 school which means our kids are at-risk and come from impoverished homes. Budgeting is limited to the most crucial items for my students.
We are hoping to get a brand new pencil sharper and pencils for testing and independent work. These resources will be used on a daily basis and are very important for our classroom to function smoothly. Without sharpened pencils my students get off task and tend to interrupt their partners looking for small pencil sharpeners. The pre-sharpened pencils will give us a good start before needing to sharpen a ton of pencils making our new sharpener last longer and help keep our class running smoothly during independent work assignments, testing, or composing weekly writing samples which require minimal distractions.
