Hello,
Thank you for looking closely at our project! I am teaching sixth grade science for a high poverty, inner-city school. The students I teach have very few opportunities to expand their learning options. This doesn't stop their desire to learn. I have been working very hard to obtain exciting, hands-on, real world examples for my students.
Hands-on materials are expensive and difficult to obtain. Through Donors Choose these opportunities become reality. I am a new middle school science teacher and am building supplies that are exciting and rewarding for student learning takes time and money. It is wonderful to have eager students who are ready to learn and my job to supply those students with lasting learning experiences.
By providing a model of how plate tectonics and volcano's actually work, student excitement and learning last much longer than merely watching a movie or reading a book. The two working models that this project will provide will do just that, provide hands-on, real life examples to build learning upon.
I'm hoping that you are part of our solution. By contributing to this project 200 sixth grade students will benefit this year and hundreds more for years to come.
