My Project
As a welcome back gift, and to encourage a love of reading, I would like to give each of my students a copy of The Pigeon Has to Go to School, by Mo Willems. At the beginning of first grade, I love to read aloud books by Mo Willems. This author's books are so captivating to first graders. They are also easy to read and help encourage students to learn to read independently. The characters in these books also teach a lot of social emotional lessons that young six year-olds benefit from. Having a book of their own at the start of the year will create excitement and a love of reading!
