The Piano Project: Class Piano on the Elementary Level

Help me give my students roll-up pianos with necessary means to power them and ribbon streamers for movement activities.

My Students

My students attend a Title I school, which means over 75% of all students have free and reduced lunch. We are in a rural area, about 7 miles away from the city center and 40 miles away from a major metropolitan city.

My students deserve the same chances in music instruction as those in wealthier communities.

I have high expectations for my students. I hold them to a very high standard when it comes to performances and concerts in addition to their daily studies in general music class.

My Project

I am seeking to obtain a class set of roll-up pianos for the sole purpose of bringing a Piano Lab to the elementary classroom. In university settings, piano labs are common with separate composition labs and class piano, a course where each student works on their own piano.

Students would learn simple beginner pieces and gain the basics of piano playing with the necessary resources provided at school.

I have also added power strips to the order so the pianos can operate on electricity rather than relying on battery power only.

The movement streamers will allow the students freedom of expression through dancing and other movement activities at the conclusion of class.
