Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am fortunate to work with the best science students in America. They consistently prove that with their hard work, dedication and AP Scores. Last year my AP Physics 1 students more than doubled the rest of the nation with their passing rate of 96%. We achieve those results by setting incredibly high expectations for ourselves, and working very hard to reach those lofty goals.

This year I'm setting our sights even higher by trying to reproduce the experiment that Albert Einstein explained in his Nobel Prize winning paper.

He didn't actually perform the Photoelectric Effect, but he understood the significance of the results and he explained them in 1905. 16 years later, he was awarded the Nobel prize for that paper. With your help, we are purchasing an expensive piece of equipment that will allow us to measure the Photoelectric Effect for ourselves. Very few college physics labs have this type of equipment, let alone high schools. My students deserve the best. They never cease to amaze me with their commitment to learning physics. I'm truly a very fortunate teacher to be able to work with such amazing future engineers and scientists!
