This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in a challenging neighborhood in Philadelphia. The students must witness things that no elementary student (or adult) should have to see. The opioid abuse situation if front and present.
The students need encouragement and recognition in order to thrive as young learners.
In the computer lab they can be creative and curious. They can experiment and learn new skills. My goal is to provide them with as many opportunities as possible. My students are curious and eager to learn. I love having the opportunity to work with these wonderful students. When they are in school they know they are safe and loved. This provides them the opportunity to grow and explore.
My Project
The students in my computer lab have boundless opportunities to be creative and gain knowledge on a variety of topics. The students learn how to code, write, collaborate, share and engage in research. They also create stories, letters and designs. The addition of a printer will provide them with the opportunity to share their works of art with the rest of the world. When one is proud of their creation the next thing they want to do is print it out and share it with others. The ability to share their work with the rest of the school is a wonderful incentive to do their very best.
