This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love my third students because they are hardworking and determined to learn and develop new ideas. They are aware that learning about the world is important and they can change reality. They are optimistic and love to see the world not as the way it is, but as the way it should be.

My Project

My students are learning about the world. They read many great literacy pieces about different cultures and travel into rich context that talks about places that many haven't visited. My students have glanced at maps once or twice but they don't know much about them.

I want to incorporate maps into my social studies unit plan because it will help my students develop the skills necessary to succeed and grow as world learners.

The maps will be placed on the wall of our classroom and we will mark it as we learn about different places from around the world. We will engage with literacy that includes different cultures and backgrounds. The students will learn that our world is not a globe that we will live in, but a beauty with many diverse humans and animals that make it special.
