Help me give my students a love for reading again. I would love for my students to have the opportunity to build community in my classroom as they read and discuss the story of Ivan. This also includes printer ink, a book binding machine, and other items.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are working through an uncertain time and trying to regain their security and their place now that schools are back to in person teaching. They are eager to learn, they pose questions that deepen their thinking and understanding. They continue to astonish me with their curiosity.
My Project
With these new books and supplies all the children will be able to participate in a novel study that will foster a love for reading. The supplies will be used to document their learning as well as enjoy hands on activities while they enhance their reading comprehension skills and expand their vocabulary.
With the extra copies of The One and Only Ivan, I can assure that I will be able to lend out a copy to a student that might be needing to quarantine or is being impacted by COVID-19.
The other supplies will be also given to the students to use at home while distant learning so they can continue to participate in the novel study.
These supplies and books will also be utilized in future third grade classes. My hope is to encourage children to read for the pure pleasure of a story and that joy stays with them for a lifetime.
