The Odyssey Graphic Novel

Help me give my students the Graphic Classic the Odyssey. My students love graphic novels and I have found them to be an effective way to help them grasp information!

My Students

My students at CMS are fantastic, and are ready to be back in the classroom after a forced break that has lasted way too long for all of them. My students are 6th grade social studies students and many of them love history. Like most 6th graders they are sometimes a handful to keep engaged., Therefore, I am always looking for new instructional strategies and tools to keep them engaged and to keep them learning.

My students love group work and also inquiry work where they get to learn for themselves with me just as a guide.

A lot of the time this includes reading. They love to read for themselves and learn new things without just being lectured by a teacher. I cover ancient civilizations and my students fall in love with learning about and reading about the mythology of these civilizations. Whether that be the Greek gods or other stories that involve mythology, they love it all! Therefore, I am always on the search for new materials to introduce them to this information because they are way more eager to learn about things they are interested in!

My Project

These resources will make a difference in student learning because my students get really engaged in these graphic novels. I think this graphic novel on The Odyssey isa great way to introduce them to Greek mythology in an enjoyable and educational way.

By the end of studying Homer's epic, The Odyssey, my students will have a better understanding of how the Ancient Greeks lived and the importance of the Greek Gods in the every day life of the people of Ancient Greece.

Reading and studying this graphic novel will be an engaging way to keep them interested in learning about Ancient Greece!
