Even the Nutty Professor working in his garage had a lab coat. We need them too.
I teach junior high school science.
We have about 170 kids in the 7th and 8th grade. We are a Title I school with over 40% of our students on free and/or reduced lunches. We regularly score as one of the top twenty schools statewide on Utah State testing. My students are hard-working students that also enjoy what they are learning.
My Project
We need lab coats. We have none. Our school has a uniform policy, and our students come to school in white shirts and nice pants. We need something to protect their clothes when we are working on lab experiments that involve chemicals and/or living matter. These coats will do just that.
Our students love labs. They already wear safety goggles, and would love the opportunity to feel like a real scientist who uses a lab coat!
STEM education is important for our future, if we can inspire just one student to pursue a science education, that one student could develop a cure, save an animal species, or even invent the next big thing.
