it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My eighth grade Real World Math students are mathematicians in the making. With their drive and eagerness to apply mathematics in real life scenarios, it makes my job to teach them a little easier. Ninety eight percent of my students come from Long Island City, Queens.
My students are all of a minority background but it's amazing to see them as the majority.
It brings joy to see my students have goals and talk about college already despite the fact they are in the eighth grade. With a little push, they can accomplish anything and everything. I'm grateful to teach them all!
My Project
Having a full class set of The Number Devil will allow me to differentiate my instruction through reading. Students will be able to apply more standards from other classes on top of the standards they need to learn in mathematics. This will allow me to create and plan even more exciting lessons and projects for my students.
The Number Devil approaches learning mathematics in an exciting and fun way.
They can collaborate on group readings, present different topics by splitting up the chapters and do in class projects. This will allow students to not only learn from myself, but the book and each other! This will make my math elective, Real World Math, complete.
