This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One of my favorite quotes from Dr. Seuss is "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." Reading expands students' minds, and the more they read, the more opportunities they will have to gain valuable knowledge.

I teach 25 eager and enthusiastic kindergarten students.

They are very creative and very inquisitive. The majority of our students are second language learners. My students come from different backgrounds and they try their best to meet their academic goals. I want to provide my kindergarteners with age appropriate materials that will help expand their reading and learning.

My Project

Reading is a fundamental skill that will help my students to be successful in the future. With the leveled books received from this project, my students will be able to develop a true love for reading. As they read engaging books that fit their reading needs, they will gain foundational skills that will help them with reading fluency and it will help them to better understand what they are reading. Students will feel proud of their accomplishments.

I know that if my students have positive experiences with books that are interesting and at their reading level, then they will have a greater desire to continue reading. Not only will they develop a love of reading, they will also expand their comprehension skills and their knowledge.
