My students need new book sets: The Magic Tree House, Junie B Jones, and Judy Moody. I have chosen some of the favorite series books children enjoy reading themselves and hearing being read aloud.

My Students
All my life, I have been a reader. I want to instill this love for reading in my classroom. I have many students who are just beginning to be able to read fluently and comprehend what they read and I want to be able to give them an opportunity to discover "series"books.
My students come from many different cultural backgrounds.
They attend a magnet school in NC and there is a high amount of poverty. Due to many budget cuts by our state there are very limited funds to expand our classroom libraries. Doing more with less has been the mantra for the last few years. Many of my books are ones my own children read when they were little so needless to say they are well loved and worn out. I want the students I work with to have access to some new and fresh books so they can get excited about reading.
My Project
My students need new book sets: The Magic Tree House, Junie B Jones, and Judy Moody. My students will use these books for guided reading time and especially with the Magic Tree House Books, use them to get ideas for further research and learning opportunities. Also, by a reading a "series" book, they will become engaged with the characters and want to read more.
Getting these books for my classroom will enable my students to further their love of reading and open some opportunities to take what they hear and read in book and learn more about it.
