This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is made up of a very diverse population, and as a Title 1 school many of the children that I have worked with face hardships at a very young age. As a second year teacher, I have seen the hunger that all of my students have for learning, despite their hardships. They always strive to learn with what they have and that's what makes every single one of them very special! Their passion for learning is restless and admirable. For that, they deserve to have all the materials they need to empower their minds through their education.
My Project
I am a second grade teacher, and through this project, I want to give my students the gift of reading. I want my students to develop a love for reading that will empower them. The love of reading will be fostered in my classroom by being able to read books at their individual level. The books selected in this project will play a huge role in giving my students the confidence they need to love reading and enjoy books that will develop not only their comprehension but their vocabulary. These books will not only be read, but they will be used as tools to build the great readers, or should I say leaders of tomorrow?
