Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have an enthusiastic and joyful first grade ICT class. About half of the student population lives in temporary housing (homeless shelter or domestic violence shelter). Our first grade class has become 3 small classes in order to follow social distancing protocols. Our students are happy to be back in school and eager to learn.
My Project
The pandemic has affected our most venerable students and the achievement gap has become wider. Reading is a fundamental skill that will impact students' future achievement. This is why my students will benefit from workbooks and books that can be used both at school and at home. My students will be able to practice and learn sight words, and read books that address their needs.
This project will provide my students with the resources to become better readers.
