This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 100% low income and all receive free lunch. All are minority students with language barriers who come from immigrant families. Most of my students are new to the United States. Many of them come to school with major gaps in their education.
Although my students come to school with educational and physiological struggles, they are happy children who love coming to school and love their teachers.
Their parents do their best to raise their children to be respectful, appreciative and caring, despite how many hours they have to work.
I enjoy working with my students because they easily share their affection and love for their teachers. I would like to purchase more phonetic books to help them learn to read in English.
My Project
Most of my middle school students read at a K-2 grade level. I want to teach them to read in English using fun books, activities, and games. These items are expensive and your donations will help me give them these opportunities.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” The best reading games are enjoyable from the start, and increase their motivation to continue completing and succeeding. Learning to read will help my students learn and understand their new society. They will become smarter as their knowledge, vocabulary, and thinking skills develop.
