My students need colored copy paper for math to keep them organized!! Every week, in order to keep track of their homework and class work students receive a colored tracking sheet.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
So many students forget what the homework assigned was the minute they step out of the classroom. Also so many students are unable to purchase planners. In Math, I use a simple colored weekly tracking sheet, to help students earn points during class and keep track of their homework.
My students are mainly Black and Hispanic.
I teach them 8th grade Math and by the time they come to me, they either love math, hate math or they just do it. I try to help them develop a love or liking for math and definitely a curiosity about why things work the way they just seem to do in Math; is it really that magical of a subject.
During the school year as we progress through some tough algebra and geometry concepts, I see kids becoming more interested in their learning and really taking the initiative as they get ready for high school.
We are a public school serving an urban population; preparing tomorrow's thinkers.
My Project
As simple as it may seem my request is very much needed in my classroom. Every Monday I photocopy 80 colored sheets; that's 320 per month. Colored paper isn't given to teachers in public schools, that money comes from our own pockets.
This weekly tracking sheet is so important to giving them credit for their work (both homework and class work) and helping them to manage themselves. Students rate themselves every Monday to see if they earned anywhere from an A to a D in either class work or homework.
THere is also a slot for parents to sign and just see that their kids are doing well in Math class. I love getting parents involved and this is one sure fired way to do so.
THe major reason I use colored paper is because students can find that paper very easily, if it get lost in their bookbags. It is also very easy for parents to find these sheets among the million white pieces of paper students carry.
Again colored paper, though simple a request is so essential to us!
This is going to help my students to become very successful at managing their academic futures.
They can use this to see their progress and keep up with their homework.
Homework is also a major issue for so many teens who just don't seem to fit it into their daily schedules. I see this paper helping kids to be more responsible when it comes to managing themselves, helping them to become true independent learners.
