Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The school I work in is considered a high-needs, low-income school with 85% of students receiving free or reduced lunch. Located in the East Village of Manhattan, New York, each student from my class comes from very diverse backgrounds. Our school is part of the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) services offered to students who need them. As educators, we know that students learn in many different ways, and it benefits them to learn visually. Unfortunately, our school cannot provide classrooms with all the supports and technologies needed in order for students to learn in a variety of different ways. The students in my class are some of the most hard-working children I have ever had the chance to meet. Many of them come from difficult backgrounds, where tools and technology are greatly limited.
Providing students with the tools they need to succeed is my major goal for the school-year.
Our school funding is limited, and we really appreciate all the support we can get!
My Project
Recently, our classroom was lucky enough to receive fully funded Amazon Fire 8 tablets! We feel grateful to have been supported by our friends and the community. These tablets allow us to use interactive online programs that further our literacy skills. Plus, these tablets let us use technology in the classroom, which benefits our learning tremendously!
We know the best way to ensure that our tablets stay in rotation for a long time is to protect them!
We are asking for funding for five cases to protect our five tablets. These durable cases will ensure that our tablets remain protected from little accidents, like drops or spills, and allow us to use them for all of our academic purposes. In addition, these cases will allow future students to engage in their learning with technology as well!
