My Students

Before you walk into our school, you may see on paper that we are a Title I school with a majority of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

We've struggled through Hurricane Harvey and Covid-19 and have limited resources for our students.

However, what you will see in person is a dynamic group of young, driven leaders, who through "The Leader in Me" process are making their mark in our world. We are a Lighthouse Leader in Me/Magnet Fine Arts school, which has helped transform all of our students into global thinkers who believe they can do anything they set their minds to. My students are dedicated and hard-working leaders.

My Project

In our third grade class, we just finished reading "Because Of Winn-Dixie" by Kate DiCamillo. The students absolutely loved the unit study. Reading the book together as a class helped the students obtain a deeper understanding of the text and allowed for higher order thinking in group discussions as we worked and though through the chapters together. In order to do a book study like this, it is vital that all of the students have their own copy of the book. This is where you can help!

Your donation will help ensure that each student receives their own copy of "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" by Kate DiCamillo.

I know that the students will be so excited to be doing another book study on a novel by this author. Please help us make this possible! Reading as a class helps readers of all levels get the opportunity to enjoy the novel, but also to have discussions about their comprehension of the story with their peers. It also helps to build the community in our classroom, as well as each and every student's reading stamina.

Your donation could help make this dream a possibility for my third grade students. Please help to share this delightful story with my kiddos!
