My Students
Say good bye to VHS! Say hello to DVD! We are trying to do that here at the PS 236 Library/Media Center but funds are extremely low these days. Whatever monies the Library/Media Center receives goes towards books for the children. However, we need those educational DVDs.
PS 236 is a Public school who has been known for its high standards.
Our students are ages 4-11, in grades PreK though 5. We value technology very highly here. One thing that is lacking is quality non-fiction DVDs to go along with the quality learning that takes place. Once upon a time, the classroom teachers had access to hundreds of VHS tapes. Now those VHS tapes have become obsolete. The students in our school, who are thirsty for learning, would greatly benefit from a new collection of DVDs in the Media Center. The teachers on all grade levels would be happy to use these videos to compliment their lessons.
My Project
These Social Studies DVDs will change our students' lives for many years by giving them knowledge. The information the children will be exposed to will stay with them forever. We have presidential elections coming up, so the Presidential DVDs are a great way to educate the students on government. Our fifth graders learn about World War II. How interesting for them to see a video about Anne Frank. For Women's History Month, we have Helen Keller, who is a real inspiration to children of ALL ages. Also, Eleanor Roosevelt, a woman who made a difference.
This is a supply that does not run out.
We will use these educational videos with students across the school again and again for many years to come. Please help make this possible for the PS 236 Students.
