The Many Colors of Pre-K

My students need paint, markers, and colored pencils to help color our world.

My Students

Black and white art work might speak to adults but three and four year olds love their colors. Paint, markers, and colored pencils brighten their art work everyday.

The 18 energetic four and five year old children in my class love to create and learn.

We are in a Title One school which includes over 1,000 students from pre-kindergarten to 8th grade. The school is in a high poverty area and about 85% of the students in the school receive free school lunch. Buying new furniture to help improve our classroom is low on the school's priority list.

My Project

The class needs paint, colored pencils, and markers. With the implementation of the Common Core standards much of our focus as educators has had to go towards literacy and mathematics. However I believe that I can incorporate the arts into my curriculum to ensure my students receive a well rounded education. My students love to draw and paint. Unfortunately my supplies are running low. The art supplies we are requesting will help me do this.

The children love to illustrate their work but they often do not have their own materials.

Because of cuts, our school is unable to provide these materials. I am a strong believer in including the arts into my everyday lessons and I can't do that without these basic art supplies.
