My students need an Apple iPad to create musical sequences & recordings which will support our findings that the 'M" in STEM is music because music is math!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Schmidt's classroom raised $991

My Students
My students attend a tough, inner city school where 98% of the population receives free lunch, and 75% of their families receive AFDC assistance. The wealth of my school lies in our school community. We have fostered an environment where we play, sing, and dance together as we learn.
The students and staff of my school invest themselves in creativity, and this type of learning has fostered the inclusion of the ARTS in our STEM lessons.
My students are ready to extend their knowledge as they connect music and creativity to math and science.
My Project
My students will learn about the mathematics of sequencing in music as well as digital sampling, audio compression and error correction. These are skills that can lead them to a real career in music other than performance. My students will investigate the difference between digital and analog sound and discover how a singer without a perfect voice can transform their finished product into a stellar, in tune, song.
My students will use the iPad to conduct research and create their own digital sequences and recordings.
A multimedia presentation created on the iPad will showcase their work for their families and peers.
