This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I wake up every morning excited to start my day. I feel like I am the luckiest person on Earth for being able to work with such an amazing group of kids. Nearly all of my fourth-grade students come from low-income households and they are struggling to perform at grade level because they don't have the resources at home to succeed. Most of them are English language learners and some of them are students with disabilities.
However, despite their struggles, their eagerness to learn is inspiring.
My goal is to get all of my students the access to resources they need to succeed academically.
My Project
Classroom libraries are an integral and crucial part of the in-person classroom experience. It is the first thing that you see when you walk into the room. Teachers spend a lot of time leveling their libraries and sorting the books into categories. The majority of our library collection comes from the school or travels from teacher to teacher and classroom to classroom. It is not often that we get the opportunity to have brand new books in the library. These books will enhance our library collection by level, by topic, and also give the kids a chance to "break a binding" and be the first human to read the pages of a good book.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
