My Students

"I love to read books in this room." One of my students told me this the other day. My dream is that he loves to read everywhere he goes. By donating to this project you can help get books in childrens hands that make them want to read more and more often.

I teach second and third grade students at a public elementary school with about 70% of the students qualifying for free and reduced lunch.

I work with five kids at a time in skill-based reading groups. I try to match my students with books at their instructional level that they find interesting. Everyday I get to witness children learning to love books and to read. I just need more books at my students instructional levels to help them continue to grow.

My Project

By providing students with books about characters such as Amber Brown, Junie B. Jones, Arthur, Franklin, and Cam Jansen you will help get my students hooked on reading. My students will find books they connect with and want to read more of on their own. These books will help my students learn to read for enjoyment as they learn skills to help them think about what they are reading. You will be providing the resources for a daily book club.

The ability to read is a life skill that will greatly increase my students chances of success.

By providing books that get students interested in reading at an early age you can help open the door for future success for all my students.
