I teach a unique and exciting classroom of Chinese Dual Language Immersion students. In the mornings, I teach one group reading, writing, and math. Then we switch mid-day and I teach the second group of students.
These students have demonstrated incredible resilience as they have faced 2 years of Covid-19 and I want to support them through this new normal.
My Project
I want to put a world atlas in the hands of each of my students as we learn where we actually are in the world and the other continents and oceans we have on our earth.
When playfully asking my students what country was north of the United States, only a handful knew!
Our kids are digitally proficient, but they aren't aware of the geography of our world. They can't point out continents or directions on a map. I will use these sources to teach this the old fashioned way--with an atlas at their desks.
