Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in our classroom includes hundreds of questions from inquisitive little minds, dozens of adorable observations about the world, and enough enthusiasm and hard work to power a small factory! My students are so excited to learn that this project would ignite so much learning!

My students are very eager-to-learn Kindergartners.

We have a great variety of students, some who have attended years of preschool and are already Reading and some whose only educational experience has been in the few weeks that we have been in school who are struggling to learn their numbers and letters. Quite a few of my students come from homes where their families do not speak English, so their time at school is truly their only opportunity to practice their letters, sounds, words, and numbers in English. Our school is a wonderful, nurturing environment with lots of parent support and a great community.

My Project

The materials that I am requesting are hands-on because that's how the majority of my students prefer to learn. They like to touch and explore things from every possible angle. My students are very eager to feel like "big kids" and have resources with which they are able to be successful. They can use these materials to help some of them master the very basic letters of the alphabet and numbers, while other students can use some of these same materials to spell out words and create simple Math equations. Because these materials are very high-interest, my students will be able to use these independently while I work with small groups of students on individual lessons that are tailored to their specific needs.

This project will help to improve my classroom because the materials would allow my students to have more opportunities to learn through hands-on activities.

My class loves to learn and they would be so thrilled to have these fun resources to help them to practice their emerging Literacy and Math skills. These resources would reinforce the concepts that we have been diligently been practicing since the first day of school.
