My Students

In a "Farmland locked" area in Minnesota, our students are taking the next step to being involved with some new technological advancements and expanding our Horizons in the career and technical areas through FIRST robotics.

Our students come from a school that is one building for all of K-12 with a "Whole school" size of 400.

With Farmland surrounding us and the nearest Wal-Mart 35 miles away, we are in need of some help through advancing our technology and opening our students' career and technical horizons. Our kids graduate with around 30 per grade, and every year show more dedication and capabilities with less available to them. Through budget cuts and removal of staff members and options, we are left with a meager staff and little to offer. This year we introduced a FIRST Robotics Team, available through the NASA Grant, and it came to light with major enthusiasm throughout the entire district and community. Our Team was a combination of 2 classes marking 35 students, over 1/5th of our high school! We are hoping to continue that light and make it shine brighter and stronger in the days to come!

My Project

We are currently an all Apple school, which helps immensely through the ease and simplicity of being involved in the technological world. However with the opportunities at our hands with the FIRST Robotics Challenge, we are in dire need of a Windows device that will open up our opportunities and allow us access to More software and programming options than we could ever dream of! With this 1 laptop, we will be able to produce reliable new code and programming to run our Robot before, during, and after competition (the one we borrowed crashed on three separate competition times) and access Drafting software and visualization software to be used for the Challenge. It will also be a reliable piece of equipment that will be used on a daily basis.

This project was a great inspiration for 35 students this year and by providing a new computer, it will grant us the usage of software that we have not been able to utilize before.

I feel that the students will be able to open up new doors and pathways to future careers, develop deeper character growth, and become an overall better person through this amazing donation.
