The Little Things That Count

Help me give my students pencils and sensory object prizes that they can earn by doing extra learning in my intervention class.

My Students

Our school is highly multicultural giving students an amazing experience in diversity. Just over 40 percent of our school is of Hispanic background and 30 percent is of African American heritage, and the other quarter of our campus has Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, even Russian students. In addition, our school has a percentage of students with disabilities. Some of my best students stay in single bedroom apartments with several families living together.

Most are very appreciative and kind spirited, but often miss out on many everyday experiences due to financial situations.

At the very least, students should be able to attend any public school and receive the same education. Please help balance the equity.

My Project

These materials will be used as incentive supports that students can earn while completing extra assignments at home and school. While my objective is to have students intrinsically motivated with learning, these items will act as an initial motivator to help students crack open a new book and complete more math fact projects to earn Falcon Dollars. When completing extra assignments at home or in the afterschool program, then when they earn 10 Falcon Dollars they can be used earn these prizes. This will be a new initiative at our school and I would love to have some great items to get students excited! These items were specially selected because they all fit under sensory objects that will support with social-emotional difficulties or are classroom supplies to help make learning fun!
