My students need beginner's digital cameras, a listening center for reading comprehension, & literacy games!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Vrbas's classroom raised $718

My Students
Do you remember sitting around at the listening center in kindergarten with your friends sharing the same reading experience, even if your friend could already read and you couldn't? That's what these students need! They also could use fun interactive projects using digital cameras.
These kindergarteners are definitely the little froggies that can!
These students come from a very diverse range of cultures and families and even languages. Typically these students are children whom come from lower income households and eat our free or reduced breakfast and lunch at school. Most of the students in my class have not gone to pre-school and thus need additional assistance from day one.
My Project
Imagine being five years old and being allowed to use a digital camera....for a school project! By putting cameras in students' hands, we can see their perspectives and also we can assess their learning in a variety of subjects. If I am teaching geometry, I can assign a set or group of students to take pictures of hexagons around our class and around the school. These students will have short term benefits, but also amazing memories of these activities that will last a life time.
Your donation will also help fund a listening center for students to have a shared reading and learning experience, no matter what level of reading they have developed. Students can challenge their comprehension more when they don't have to worry about the phonetic break down of words.
I have also thrown in a few helpful tools such as word wands that will help students find and isolate site words on charts and posters in the room. There is also a helpful literacy center for independent work.
There are multiple aspects to this project, but all will give these able, but disadvantaged "froggies" the boost they need.
It is so vital to catch them up in their first year of school and your donation will help do just that. I thank you for investing in my students. They will be so very grateful.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
