My Students

How could anyone dislike coming to work when you interact with students who work hard every day to achieve their potential? As a speech-language pathologist servicing Pre-K to 2nd-grade students with various disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder and various speech-language delays, I have seen first hand the lengths my students will go to make us educators proud every day. They are vital members of our community who make coming to work every day a joy.

As educators, we have implemented various teaching techniques in order to enhance each students' unique learning experience.

We focus our teaching points on both academic and social skills by providing various related services and small classroom size instruction. The students on my caseload have various communication abilities. Some cannot communicate verbally; however, they find their own unique ways to communicate. They use gestures, picture symbols, and various devices from low-tech to high tech.

My Project

I will begin servicing students in a new classroom this year. My students will be Kindergarten-2nd grade students who love to explore with their sense of sight. The Cricut machine helps to create beautiful and appealing materials that can be used for my students to capture their attention and engage them in all academic tasks.

With this machine, I will be able to create materials for each individual student as well as make materials for our new classroom.

The vinyl material can be used to make customized shirts for my students to ensure safety during trips, community walks, and special occasions in our school colors. The extended mats will greatly help in creating shirts for students with longer names. Additionally, the colorful paper, makers, and carrier case will be utilized for creating and easier transport of the device to be used in classrooms at our new school site.
