My Project

I am thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for my 3rd-grade class to explore the enchanting world of C.S. Lewis’s “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” I am seeking your generosity to fund a class set of this timeless novel. It will serve as a vital resource in fostering my students' love for literature and enhancing their critical thinking skills. With your support, I aim to provide each student with their own copy of the book. This accessibility will encourage deeper engagement with the text, allowing for rich discussions and personal connections to the story.

“The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” introduces themes of bravery, friendship, and the classic battle between good and evil, which are perfect for cultivating moral reasoning in our young learners.

The curriculum will include a comparative analysis of the novel and its film adaptation. Students will engage in discussions and use graphic organizers to explore key questions, promoting critical thinking and media literacy.

We will have interactive writing assignments. Each student will adopt the voice of their favorite character and write daily journal entries reflecting on their experiences and emotions. This activity fosters empathy and a deeper understanding of character motivations.

After watching the film, students will rewrite a key scene from the book with their creative input, enhancing their narrative writing skills.

For a final project, students will write essays expressing their preferences between the book and the movie, backed by textual evidence and analysis of story elements, which will strengthen their argumentation skills.

This initiative will empower students to develop essential literacy skills and cultivate a critical appreciation for storytelling in different formats. By analyzing and interpreting the text and its film version, students will emerge as more discerning readers and thinkers.
