This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When you were a student, did you ever wish that lessons were more exciting? Fresh, invigorating texts in the classroom help to engage students and make them active participants in their learning!
My students are sixth-graders who attend an inner city elementary school.
They are hard-working, motivated, and determined to continue to make growth and progress. They are helpful and giving, eager to learn, and responsible. My students deserve to have the necessary, invigorating texts to further kindle their love for reading and learning!
My Project
As a class, we are eager to learn everything that we can get our hands or minds on, sixth-graders have an enormous amount of standards to cover, with a whole new set of expectations. The best way to make sure that students have quality and lasting experiences, is to ensure that the tools they are given are engaging and can encompass a variety of skills. Students will be able to engage in whole class discussions and lessons about The Lightning Thief, and then apply strategies to studying a book of choice from the independent study books!
These texts will allow my students to have access to the rigorous curriculum that they deserve.
As we incorporate the lessons that derive from a model unit, created by the Department of Education, our studies of this classic will keep students interested and excited about reading and writing.
