Shared reading and writing activities are essential to success in literacy. Throughout the week, students will gather together to take part in shared reading. During this time, we will read texts together while focusing on various skills. Throughout the week, we will also spend time completing shared writing assignments on large chart paper. During this time, students will help me create a collaborative piece of writing by helping with grammar, phonics, and sentence structure while also going through the writing process. In addition to shared reading and shared writing activities, we will also spend time creating anchor charts that can be used as reference points for various skills during independent assignments.
The Literacy Station will be a focal point for our small group gathering time and will help provide stability for our books, anchor charts, and chart paper.
It will be large enough so all students can read along and see the material clearly. Because students will be able to see clearly and be able to interact during shared reading and writing experiences, student engagement and success will be increased!
