Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In the Reggio Emilia approach, young children are given access to quality art materials to explore how they might express themselves and their understandings of the world. Each material has a unique language. Clay and wire are important "languages" for young children to explore, ones which children in Reggio and Reggio-inspired schools often get to use.
By supporting this project, you are giving public school preschool students access to the same high quality experiences as their peers in respected private preschools.
In fact, I requested clay through our school district at the beginning of the school year, but it is now April and I am still waiting to receive the supplies. Through this DonorsChoose.org project, I am hoping to provide my class with experiences with clay before their time in preschool comes to an end.
This project also supports children's literacy development through fine motor development for writing, oral language development, and interactive writing experiences which will go together with their sculpture work, such as writing titles for their pieces.
