This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach children in a low-income and high poverty neighborhood in the inner city of Los Angeles. At this Title I school, 100% of my students receive free and reduced price lunch.
Though their economic standing has them encountering many challenges, struggling to receive an exemplary education will not be one of them, as far as I am concerned.
My hope is to provide my students with the highest expectations so that they can succeed in their lives, education, and careers. To help me do that, I need resources that these student may not have readily available.
My Project
It's that time of the year where the supplies in the classroom just continue to disappear. I don't even want to mention the embarrassing amount of pencils my students have gone through, but it has been quite a bit. Now if I could come up with some amazing system where students are able to not lose or go through all their supplies, I would gladly come up with it. But until then, my students and I are going to need some materials in my classroom.
Unfortunately, there has been a limit placed on the amount of items we could request at my school, and I want to make sure my students will continue to have the supplies they need to be successful.
I want them to have the same access to materials as every student deserves.
My students will need pencils to complete their work, markers so they can write on their whiteboards, timers so they can practice math and reading fluency, and sanitizer to keep their hands clean.
