Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Through our iPad 1:1 learning program, my excellent students use iPad technology to enhance their learning process. They'll begin using laptops once they're in middle school. However, many of my students only feel comfortable typing on the virtual keyboard with their thumbs or two fingers. A majority of my kids don't know how to use a real keyboard, and some don't have access to one at home.
My students are constantly asking for opportunities to use a keyboard, but there are not enough for everyone, and the majority of the ones we do have do not work.
It's painful to watch their faces swiftly change from excitement as they make tremendous progress on their project or assignment to frustration when their keyboard stops working. We try to introduce children to a range of technical experiences and tools, and having a functional keyboard will better prepare them for the future.
