This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach music (vocal, theory, and history) to a diverse group of music students at a Title I Visual and Performing Arts school in Los Angeles. Students come to our public high school from all over the city to receive a top-notch education in both academics and their chosen art form (music, dance, visual or theater). Many of them go on to study at some of the top academic colleges and art schools across the country.

Our students are hungry for opportunities to explore music and to share their music making with the world.

My Project

Every day in the music theory classroom, around 160 students are learning to read music and apply their musical knowledge to the skills needed to play the piano. The classroom is set up with computers and keyboard controllers for each student so they practice these skills. 

My music theory classroom is in need of working keyboard controllers.

Almost every day a new keyboard in the classroom is breaking and we no longer have enough controllers for each student to be able to practice their piano assignments. Your donation towards 5 new keyboards will help make sure each student has access to this technology in their music learning.
