This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Buenos dias!" said with a smile is how my students and I greet each other in the mornings. The model in our classroom is that every day is a new day, and we always give each other a chance to start again in a positive way.
I work at a Title I dual immersion school in Paso Robles where many of our students come from low income households.
I teach 3rd grade with a class of 30 students. There are many subjects that pose a struggle for many of the students. I am always looking for different types of hands-on materials or activities that may help enhance their confidence and knowledge in learning.
My Project
My students love to read, and when they have access to quality literature, there is no stopping them! I have carefully chosen all these titles of award-winning, engaging, and full of life books. Through novel studies, I want to increase their love for reading even more. With books from Gary Soto, Alma Flor Ada and Pam Munoz, to mention a few of the selected authors on my list, we will explore themes such as acceptance, survival, friendship, and perseverance.
Books are their tickets to explore new places.
My students need exciting, rich and engaging books to expand their imagination. When they read, they get to explore new places that they have not visited before. This allows them to expand their knowledge and experiences to help them not only to become better readers but better writers as well. Please help my students explore the magical worlds of books.
